About Sacred Mountain Lavender

Sacred Mountain Lavender has grown lavender organically since 2001 on the foothills of Mount Tuam, at the south end of Salt Spring Island about five minutes from the Fulford Harbour ferry. Two and a half acres are planted for culinary, floral and spa use, and the demonstration beds hold more than 60 varieties in a wide range of colors and forms. Signs on Fulford-Ganges Road point the way, and the farm is stop number one on the island's studio tour map.

The lavender blooms from June through September. Visitors take a self-guided walk through the fields and can see the whole cycle, from propagation and harvest to the drying room and the steam still where the farm makes its own essential oil.

The farm shop opens on weekends in April and then runs from May to Thanksgiving. In 2026 it opened on April 4 and was open Wednesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., through the fall, closing for the season after a short day on Sunday, October 11. The shelves carry the farm's spa and culinary goods, including essential oil, sachets, gel hand and body soap, a lavender bergamot bar soap, lotion, spritzer, linen spray, a lavender kitchen and bathroom cleaner, lavender florets for cooking, lavender honey and milk and dark lavender chocolate. Online orders ship across Canada.

Salt Spring Island Cheese is about 10 minutes away, making it an easy second stop on a south-island loop.
