About Bishop's Orchards Winery

Bishop's Orchards has farmed in Guilford for more than 150 years, and the family turns its own fruit into wine and hard cider. The fruit wines are built on apples: Stonehouse White is a dry apple wine with a touch of oak, Apple Raspberry Blush is semi-dry, and Honey Peach Melba adds peaches, raspberries and honey from the orchard's bees. The Daughters & Sons hard ciders range from Burton, a dry cider of bittersweet and heirloom apples such as Dabinett and Ashmead's Kernel, to semi-sweet blueberry and raspberry ciders.

Tastings are $10 per person on Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 5 pm, with no appointment needed. From May through October they are held outdoors by the Little Red Barn, and from November through April inside the Farm Market wine bar. Parties of ten or more should call ahead. Not every wine and cider is available all year.

The rest of the farm fills out a day. The Farm Market on Boston Post Road is open year-round with produce, baked goods and prepared foods, and the Creamery scoops ice cream daily through November 1 in 2026. Pick-your-own runs from strawberries in mid-June through blueberries, peaches, raspberries and pears to apples from late August to late October and pumpkins until Halloween, at the main orchard on New England Road and the Dunk Rock raspberry patch. The Fall Festival is open daily 10 to 5 through November 1, 2026. Pets are not allowed in the orchards.

Lavender Pond Farm in Killingworth is about 20 minutes north, so a summer day can pair lavender fields with berry picking and a weekend tasting here.
