About Holland Marsh Food Market

Holland Marsh Food Market sits on Canal Road in the middle of the Holland Marsh, the vegetable-growing district off Highway 400 that the market calls the heart of Ontario's vegetable industry. It was started by Liz Gorzo, who grew up on Canal Road. Her parents, John and Julianna Gorzo Sr., farmed market vegetables in the Marsh for more than 50 years, and her father, who sold at the Ontario Food Terminal, always wanted a small fruit stand of his own. Liz set up her tents where the old Canal Road Farmers Market had stood for more than thirty years.

The produce leans toward heirloom and European specialties you rarely see in a grocery store: parsley root, celeriac, heirloom carrots, scarlet turnips, Bull's Blood beets, Camelot shallots, red and gold cipollini onions, peppers in many shapes, and more than 20 kinds of beefsteak and cherry tomatoes. Alongside them you'll find greens, cucumbers, potatoes, leeks and mushrooms from local farms, plus salsa made with heirloom and San Marzano tomatoes, preserves, cut flowers and pies baked in a certified kitchen.

The market is seasonal and opened for 2026 in late June, with Thursday to Sunday hours. Produce boxes can be ordered at the stand or online, for pickup at the farm or delivery to nearby towns from Bradford and Newmarket to Barrie and Alliston.

Lavender Valley Farm near Cookstown is about 10 miles northwest, roughly 20 minutes, and The Giving Place in Mount Albert is about 25 minutes east, so the market makes a good produce stop on a lavender day.
