About Laird Family Estate
Laird Family Estate is the winery of a Napa Valley family that has grown grapes here for close to 50 years. The Lairds farm more than 2,000 acres of vineyards and sell about 97 percent of the fruit to other wineries, keeping roughly 3 percent for their own label, which they started in 1999. The tasting room sits on Solano Avenue north of the city of Napa, with raised patios that look out across the valley.
The tasting room is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (last tasting at 4) and closes on Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Day, and New Year's Eve and Day. Every tasting is reserved ahead. In 2026 the Veraison Flight of five whites and reds is $50, waived with a $100 purchase, and the Big Red's Flight of five reds is $60, waived with $120. On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., a $125 tour walks through the winery and its custom crush facility, followed by five wines, a cheese and charcuterie board and truffles.
This is one of the more relaxed stops in the valley. Families and well-behaved pets are welcome, and you can bring your own food to eat on the patios and lawn. The winery also sells snacks, from $5 truffles to cheese and charcuterie plates ($35 to $60), best added when you book. Parties top out at 12 people, counting children and non-drinkers. Each year the estate throws a Harvest Party with live entertainment and a chance to meet the winemaker.
HVH Specialty Growers, a Suisun Valley flower farm that opens for seasonal events including a lavender celebration, is about 30 minutes southeast.
